Mike Cane’s Nokia 770 Blog

By David Rothman

Mike Cane, source of many a tip for the TeleBlog, has a Nokia 770 blog continuing his work elsewhere–check it out.

Correction: That “Light a Candle” recommendation came from Roger Sperberg. What happened is that I thought Roger was passing on Mike’s rec. Adding to the injury, I confused Citzen Cane and Citizen Kane. Mea culpa. Sorry, Mike. I encourage others to follow Mike’s example and give our knuckles a good rapping when we sin. - David Rothman

  1. Tch! You got my name wrong! Saboteur!

  2. And BTW, I have *no* idea what that Light A Candle business is. I would never do anything so twee or treacly!

  3. Um, I guess you’re still dizzy. Must have been simultaneous emails, cause I don’t have any idea what *Light a Candle* means. Well, lots of things flashing by and spinning us all around. No harm done.

  4. OK, guys. Mystery solved. No one’s dizzy or smoking anything, but the damn ads in email can confuse people. The full story:

Roger sent me an email about Mike’s blog and said at the end: “I think this is your call, whether to post something at Teleread beyond that. If it were up to me, I would. It seems to me it’s a public-service announcement though only indirectly e-book related.”

And then I saw: in Mike’s post an ad from an e-mail vendor that in context seemed at first glance to fit “public service announcement”:

“Mourn the victims. Comfort the survivors. Stand for peace. Light a virtual candle for London: http://www.care2.com/go/z/london.”

I still should have picked up on “only indirectly e-book related,” but at least you know what the devil happened. Hey, I don’t smoke–pot or tobacco.

Meanwhile, if Mike doesn’t like this here “Light a Candle” business, I guess he can stop using the offending email service even as an auxiliary one.

    Cheers,
    David

  7. Why, Robert, why did you post a test msg here and stab my 770 scar?!!?
