Faster iLiad deliveries for TeleBlog readers in U.S. and Canada–not just EU alone

Want iRex to ship you an iLiad ASAP–even though the software isn’t quite ready?
As long as you acknowledge the above warning, you’re in luck if you live in the United States or Canada, not just Europe alone. Read this post to the end, and then here’s what you do to get your iLiad long before September:
1. Take care to absorb the fine print in the “Rest of” section of this blog item.
2. Post in public a statement saying you’re aware of the limitations of the current iLiad, per the fine print. You’ll get the missing functionality via software upgrades.
3. Privately email Roland Rohde your full name (and any nickname used in the post). I’ve set up a temporary emailbox for Roland, which will reach his regular box. Just stick in a @ in place of “NOSPAM…” Also, take care to write out your e-mail address in the actual private message so Roland can easily paste it into his communications with iRex. Finally, also for Roland’s convenience, mention the time stamp of your post in the TeleBlog thread (it will be the time above your message in the comment area).
Please note that no one is paying Roland. He’s doing this as a favor to fellow users because, like many others, he believes in the possibilities of the machine.
Caveats: This is not an official endorsement of the iLiad from the TeleBlog. Nor did iRex ask me to do this. It just seems like a good turn for TeleBlog readers who’ve been waiting so patiently for their iLiads. No vendor favoritism. If, for example, Jinke finds itself in a similar situation and if a volunteer like Roland materializes, I’ll do the same if it’s at all practical. What’s more, if iRex extends this offer to ofher parts of the world, you can bet we’ll report it.
The fine print: You should clearly agree to the following statement: “I acknowledge that the development of the iRex iLiad isn’t finished yet, and that I know that its software is still being developed before it can be considered as fully functional as advertised. I live within either the EU, the United States or Canada.”
Quote from iRex, updated 12:31 p.m., July 4, 2006:
iRex got requests from several consumers to have access to the shop. We have no problem in doing so when they mention they are aware that the iLiad is not yet fully functional and that they do not mind that functionality is coming in sw releases.
They also need to register with iRex technologies in order to get access to those sw upgrades (enclosed a description of the process)
How to register my iLiad: (it can wait until you have the iLiad in your hands)
• Please visit https://myirex.irexnet.com/createuser.php and fill in your e-mail address.
• You will receive an automatic e-mail with the password in your e-mail inbox.
• Configure the iLiad Settings in your iLiad and insert your e-mail address and the password you received.
• Connect you iLiad to your network by creating a connection profile on your iLiad (wired or wireless).
• You are now registered and ready to connect to iDS.
• Connect to iDS by pressing the connect key of your iLiad for 2 seconds

I acknowledge that the development of the iRex iLiad isn’t finished yet, and that I know that its software is still being developed before it can be considered as fully functional as advertised; nevertheless, I have been obsessively waiting for the Iliad to become available in whatever form. I live in California, USA.

Just a brief warning for those interested:
Due to a small problem with USD payments the US invites are on hold at iRex right now. They’ll collect the addresses and send out the invites as soon as the problem is solved.
Just so you’re not disappointed if you don’t receive your invites today.
Thanks.

@David Bell
You are now on the list.
@Ben Bornstein
You’ll be included in the next batch sometime today.
So far 69 mobileread and Teleread users have been added to the iRex Invite list through this project. The europeans have already received their invites, the US members should follow in the next couple of days (either Friday or Monday according to iRex)

You’re in!
That makes 78 new Iliad customers in 3 days…^^
I don’t know how many of the invitees will actually order, but I think we’re looking at around 90% here from what I can extrapolate from the mobileread posting…so it’ll give iRex a nice boost…and hopefully won’t force them to delay yet again…

Good news Everyone!
I received word from Angel ancin at iRex that the first devices will be underway tomorrow and that US invites are being sent out because the USD payment now works without problems.
The US price also dropped quite a bit since no VAT is being charged for US orders. (Pricing is around 740$ incl. shipping).

iRex has still not managed to ship the first european devices for real…
The shipping order was sent on friday, but UPS never received it because the interface (SAP as far as I know) between iRex and UPS didn’t work.
I hope they’ll get it up and running tomorrow. I think that as soon as everything works (which hopefully will be soon) the orders will all be fulfilled quickly and shipping to US customers will also start, hopefully without problems.

A little update:
I have my Iliad now and some other mobilereaders from Europe have received theirs.
Things are finally moving.
i’m quite busy at the moment so I can’t really do a proper review, but if you peep in on the mobileread forums then you can get some info from me and from others about the device and it’s status.
