‘Create your own book cover art with open source software’

By David Rothman

“Print-on-demand sites like Lulu allow you to create and publish your own book. If you’re primarily a writer, you might be tempted to hire a professional designer to create a cover for your book. Before you do that, consider creating a simple yet elegant book cover using the open source Kooka scanning software and the [Inkscape] vector drawing application.” - Linux.com, via Bill Janssen on the eBook Community List. 1. Too bad the original author mistyped “Inkspace” for “Inkscape” in the first paragraph of his article, which is why, when I quoted it on ebook-community, I placed “[sic]” after it, as a gentle hint to the reader to mistrust the construction. More lousy QA…

  2. Thanks, Bill. I’ve tweaked the post to include the right spelling and even send people to a relevant Wikipedia item. - David (who of course would encourage you to call attention to any mistakes in the Wikipedia item)
