The Biblio File Excerpt: Connor Cochran, Peter S. Beagle, Diane Duane on e-books

By Chris Meadows

The Biblio FileAs part of my on-line talk show, The Biblio File. I recently recorded a 3 hour 46 minute interview with Hugo-winning novelist Peter S. Beagle and publisher Connor Cochran, joined partway through by novelist Diane Duane. At one point, the conversation turned to e-books. Here is an excerpt of part of that conversation.

  1. It seems a little ironic that Mr. Cochran is objecting to ebook versions because of a pirated Spanish copy of a book. That book wasn’t even put out in ebook format. :(

  2. Connor Cochran Says:

Actually, Janice, it was put out as an e-book–illegally, by a Spanish publisher named Umbriel. That was part of the point I was making, because we only recently found out about the illegal Spanish e-book (five years after it went into distribution) because this one overzealous blogger went and posted the entire stolen text on his blog site.

I am very interested in e-books. I’m also very concerned with making sure that Peter earns money off his work. He has been ripped off too many times over the years.
