Carol Jurd, newest TeleBlog contributor, is based in Australia and goes for e-classics
Our newest TeleBlogg contributor, Carol Jurd, a much-appreciated commenter, is on the Committee for the Classical Association of South Australia.
Fittingly, her first post in the regular part of the blog will be on classics-realted sites like Textkit, a thriving community built around Greek and Latin textbooks.
Blackmask fan
In character, she’s the booklover who tipped us off the other day about the forthcoming rebirth of Blackmask as Munseys.
Carol is also a part-time musician and has “worked with the Investigator Science Centre in Adelaide and been on committees for various government and community associations. Having always been the family bookworm, it will be a pleasure to contribute.”
Soft spot for Australia
Here at the TeleBlog, we’ve always had a soft spot for Australia and Australians, who, perhaps because of the vast expanses of their continent and the distances between libraries in the interior, have a special interest in e-books. Oh, and this is also the country that gave us My Brilliant Career. Imagine how much Miles Franklin would enjoyed e-books as a way to augment the limited choices of books in the Brindabella Valley in the late 19th century.
Welcome, Carol!
