Wowio’s e-book ad goals vs. current stats
“How many ads appear in a book? WOWIO founder William Lidwell says, ‘The goal is to keep it under a ratio of one ad page per three content pages. By comparison, many magazines have ratios as high as 1:1.’ It doesn’t appear that the company has achieved the 3:1 ratio as yet; WOWIO versions of Player Piano and Cat’s Cradle contain six ads each.” - Mike Banks’ blog.
The TeleRead take: This above post is two months old, but I doubt much has changed. I’m really rooting for WOWIO to make it, although I believe that readers will be grouchy about that 3:1 ratio. By the way, the $155 used DT 375 tablet includes a PDF reader and hopefully will work with WOWIO.

i’ve been reading books by wowio, and i find the ads negligible, and not really a nuisance at all. the books are great, and their store is very easy to navigate and use. i’ve recommended wowio to ebook-readin’ people i know.

Hi, Franko. Link worked fine when I tried it just now. Originally I hotlinked “buy” but I’ve modified it to “chance to buy,” in case that wasn’t clear. Click here, Let me know if you have further problems! Sure agree with you about Wowio! David

I agree with Franko. I’ve been reading Wowio books. The ads are negligible especially their recent releases where they confined the ads at the beginning and end of the book.

[...]                            David Rothman briefly scribbles about it at Teleread. While Michael Banks quite comprehensively tells of it more in his blog page. I’ve found links to commentary threads discussing readers’ concern on extending the good site’s welcome to other countries outside of the United States. Much like the conversations I had with some friends who live in the Philippines for one. At present the copyright laws limit access to their free books to those who live in the U.S. [...]
