Groan! Those Booker Prize shortlist novels WON’T be free online

By David Rothman

anneenright Imagine—the Booker Prize shortlist books going online for free, after the awarding of the price. The Times in the U.K. told of such efforts.

Here’s the real lowdown. The real goal is to create “an online collection of contemporary British literature including the Man Booker Prize winners in the form of e-books, which can be purchased.” The program would begin next year and be aimed at readers in China, India and Africa. Shown is Anne Enright, who won the 2007 prize for The Gathering.
