Reprinting Internet Archive books via Lulu: From Davy Crockett bio to Nazi warfare study
From Yakov Shafranovich:
For the past few weeks I have been working on an experimental service that may interest librarians. The Public Domain Books Reprints Service lets you take a public domain book from the Internet Archive, set it up for printing via Lulu and order it. A list of books already processed and available immediately is here.
This is an non-commercial service with the printing being done basically at cost (rounded up to 99 cents). It is essentially an experiment which was commissioned by someone trying to determine if there is a demand for reprints of public domain books. I expect it to be around for a few weeks but don’t know if I will keep it up past that.
Moderator’s note: The 20 titles available range from a Davy Crockett bio to Secret Armies: The new technique of Nazi Warfare, apparently some propaganda pubished in 1939 . Photo of Crockett—yep, the Disneyized frontier legend—is from Wikipedia. The Archive, not associated with Yakov’s reprint site, is expected to offer similar services, but here’s something to try right now. Feel free to share results with other TeleBlog readers. Thanks, Yakov! - DR
