Kindle student initiative? Plus some skepticism about the blockbuster numbers

By David Rothman

We’ve heard that before, and the Silicon Valley Insider site passes on a Seattle newspaper report indicating it’s so.

In a related vein, the word is that the K machine is doing well, but not to the extent that a Citigroup analyst and others have speculated.

So what are the numbers? They’re still a mystery. Is this SEC territory? I don’t know. But Amazon is a publicly traded company and really needs to be more open with its investors. Future sales are hard to predict. But how about the past?

  1. Just imagine how thick amazon’s annual report would be if they were required to list the quantities sold of every item they sell :)

  2. But HG, Amazon has said e-books will be the future. Let’s see ‘em quantify the results so far. Thanks. David
