JK’s down on Palm—and its e-book debacle certainly would be ammo for him

By David Rothman

image jkOnTheRun wonders how much longer Palm can go on before the company switches off the lights.

I won’t duplicate his comments, except to say how disappointed I am in the company for not playing up e-books more. Palm’s aging TX technology, for example, could be used for a cheapie e-book reader.

Meanwhile isn’t it telling that the new Treo Pro (photo) has just a 320 x 320 screen—much smaller than the iPhone’s. See Chris Meadows’ earlier commentary.

Let’s hope that Palm can surprise us with, say, an e-book-friendly tablet also useful for many other apps. Otherwise don’t get your hopes up for the company’s survival.
