		<description>To me, this is really bad news. One thing America still leads the world in is the creation of entertainment. our movies and TV may be trash, but they&#039;re popular around the world. Yet, if they&#039;re simply downloaded without regard to the rights of the producer, the economics of creating that content will be destroyed.

Now, it&#039;s true that there is user-created video content--just as there are free videogames and free fan fiction, etc. I don&#039;t see these as a desirable replacement for professionally produced digital content.

The digital revolution should be a way of passing cost savings to customers while allowing authors and editors who provide value to benefit from that value. Massive copyright violation simply cannot be a good thing.
