The Authors Guild as the Mafia? Kindle T-T-S retreat inspires Corleone Family comparison from Larry Lessig

image Check out Caving in to bullies (aka here we go again)—Larry Lessig’s essay on the Authors Guild as a Corleone-style threat to innovators like Google and Amazon.

That said, I agree with Michael Cairns that Amazon’s ownership of Audible could be a major factor in Amazon’s partial back-off from text to speech in the Kindle 2.

Who says the guild is the only outfit with a Corleone-type side? Amazon has its positives, but you can bet that it places the interests of its subsidiaries, such as Audible, above the public interest.
