A phenomenon of one, and that one is the daughter of a friend of a friend. Not exactly a tidal wave. A heart-warming thought that ebooks might grow reading among children

Not sure why the parents were surprised... kids especially are more used to shopping on the internet for things they want, than going into stores. It's no wonder their child has "discovered" books, now that they have an online source for them.

Still, Amazon isn't the only source of e-books... and I fear that propagating that notion will only serve to slow the progress of e-books overall. The parents would have been better off getting their child a Sony reader, which accepts more standard formats.

To a real reader, like this kid, books are books are books. More power to her and her family.
