Amazon's first decision was to put them back up after someone there had edited my signature line and removed the "author of Whale Song" bit (or whichever book I chose to add. However, I was explicitly told earlier in emails from Amazon reps in the review dept. that authors who write reviews could not add their own book title in their signature. That's why mine were deleted. However, today I received an apology and all my 85 reviews were reinstated. Someone from Amazon kindly typed in "author of Divine Intervention" at the end of my reviews. I find that they chose that book title of mine to be quite ironic. :-) You can read about my contact with Amazon, read the letter by Peter (a senior manager on the Amazon Communities team) and my response. I believe the original problem may have stemmed from one person's decision (or misunderstanding of the rules) in the review department. They need to learn not to be so quick to hit that delete button.
