Color screen 9.7-inch e-reader coming in early 2010?
Color on a 9.7-inch screen will be an option in a e-reader coming from Netronix and Astak—in early 2010 if all goes as planned. PVI will provide the screen. The specs:

If they’re going to bother using WinCE as the OS, why not also throw MS Reader on there?

A fair question, Mr Cane.
Of course, there is no reason to leave LIT support out even from the Linux-based version (except, maybe, out of ABM spite) since LIT on Linux support has been around for a while. I’m reasonably happy with LIT rendering on my Hanlin V3-based BeBook and, while it would be nice to have dictionary support, it is quite stable as long as you don’t feed it LITs created by ReaderWorks. Dunno why but it really really prefers Ms Word-created Lits.
Anyway, while more ebook readers can only be a good thing, looking at all the mutant variants being pre-announced, I have to wonder how many will actually get to market and how long they’ll endure if they get that far; it reminds me of the DAP market circa 1998…
