By David Rothman

image “One hundred semifinalists have been selected for the next round of the 2009 Amazon Breakthrough Novel Award. Each entry in the Top 100 has received a full manuscript review from Publishers Weekly, in addition to early customer reviews of excerpts posted during the quarterfinals. We will announce three finalists for the Grand Prize on May 15—begin reading and reviewing excerpts today and see if your favorite reads make it to the Final Three.” – Amazon page.

The TeleRead take: Any LGBT-related titles? I suspect so, if Amazon’s “Expert Panel” indeed prevailed. Categories were Fantasy, General Literature, Historical Fiction, Mystery, Romance, Science Fiction and Thriller & Suspense. Click to see the options within categories and read free excerpts via Amazon Shorts.

Important detail: Clay Shirkey wonders if Amazon was knocked unfairly on Twitter.
