Hooray! Amazon Kindle iPhone app updated to work in landscape mode

By David Rothman

From The Solomon Scandals, my just-released novel As grumpy as I am about Amazon’s dissing of the ePub standard for the Kindle, I like the company’s Kindle app for the iPhone.

Now the app, also running on the iPod Touch, is still better.

Via an update from the App Store, you can get the app to display books sideward—in the landscape mode. Just the ticket for getting through long sentences in old Russian novels or whatever. Line breaks won’t interrupt you so often.

The update will also let you “select alternate background and text colors to iprove reading comfort in low light conditions.

“Tap on either side of the screen or flick to turn pages.

“PInch to zoom images in books.”

And speaking of Amazon and the customer experience: Amazon’s Physical vs. Digital Dissonance, a TOC post from Andrew Savikas (via Joanna Penn).
