bookofjoe available on the Kindle; doesn’t make a fortune

By Paul Biba

One of my favorite blogs has a Kindle edition available. One interesting thing about Joe’s post is that he actually tells you how much money he will make if you subscribe:

Why read for free when you can pay?

Wait a minute, joe — this isn’t the Bizarro World.

Doh.

Pros:

• Downloads automatically even if you don’t have WiFi or Internet access

• It’s the new new thing

• Puts 2¢ a day in my pocket — (Amazon pays me 30% of the subscription price)

Cons:

• Doesn’t work with iPod touch/iPhone Kindle apps (neither do any Kindle blogs or newspapers, for that matter) — you need either of the two current Kindle readers

• Appears in black and white as opposed to online color version

• Links won’t work since you’re reading a download, not an active web page

• Costs over 6¢ a day — money you could use elsewhere

  1. Although links on downloaded books can be live, they are very slow. Load the Feedbooks.com catalog and click on a title to have it sent to you.

  2. I just found out that you can post your blogs on the kindle publishers network but its not very good yet anyone can claim that they own any blog so I think they need to rethink how they do what they do to avoid all of the fraud that’s going on.
