Comments on: iPhone 3.0 software breaks eReader software?

I’m wondering if Clytie Siddall is still having good luck. I have had the exact same problem as described above … eReader locks up, wont’ go back to my library. I uninstall, then reinstall (via iTunes synching), and it works — at least for the next book I read. But when I get to the end of THAT book, it is do the same thing all over again. If there has been awareness of this problem by eReader and Fictionwise for all these months, then something needs to be done. I have been a consistent customer of Fictionwise and like eReader a lot. But I’m about to try Stanza and see what happens. Anyway, I have also tried Clytie’s solution and it didn’t hold, so am just wondering how that person is doing now after a month. I’m actually seriously considering getting B&N’s Nook — but it will be one more (bigger) thing to carry around, so I’m reluctant. I like reading on my iPhone just fine. Somebody PLEASE FIX THIS BUG!

Finally, I seem to have eReader working on my iPhone 3G, reinstalling it again from scratch after power-cycling the iPhone. I lost all my data (hundreds of ebooks), which I’ll have to set and download again, but at least the app. is working again. I sent a support ticket in to Fictionwise, but didn’t get a reply, even after several months. This hasn’t been a positive experience: once you rely on a particular reader, and have all your books in that format, you’re stuck without it. However, BookShelf was a big help during that period. Summary: eReader is working again at last, but the bad taste in my mouth is going to take quite a while to go away.

After installing 3.0 on my 8GB Touch, the B&N eReader just disappeared. I managed to re-install it, but I can’t access anything with it.

Can’t open apps at all after 3.0 update . Deleted, then reinstalled apps. Still no go. Tried shut down about 10 times , still no luck. (iPhone 3g)!!!!!

I am having the same problem. I recently upgraded from the 3g to the 3gs and the application often pauses and locks up when I attempt to download my books. I have sent several emails tried to delete and redownload the application, and the same thing. I hope they fix this soon. Otherwise it is a great application. I love the dictionay feature!!!

My eReader Pro (on iPhone 3G) hasn’t worked since the iPhone 3.0 update: it won’t open, just shows a “loading…” screen for a few seconds, then abruptly I’m back to the apps page again. I’ve installed each eReader update, including version 2.1.1 today, but I still can’t open eReader.

This is particularly frustrating, as I’m also a disabled reader (I need the visual aids, and can’t hold a book) and all my books are in my eReader app.

For users who now have a working eReader on iPhone, which version do you have? And are there others like me, who still don’t have eReader working?

Any help would be very much appreciated.

I loaded the new app and everything seemed to be working fine. Yay!

Until today – when I decided to clean up my library and delete some books. No can do. The app no longer deletes books.

At last.

Took their time but all seems to work fine. Enjoyed using Stanza but doesn’t feel quite as well put together as ereader. Still like the sweep gesture to turn the page over .

I guess apple have had a back log of app updates from people who hadn’t tested their sowtware on the 3.0 Beta

My fix appeared on my iPhone shortly after I posted. I’ve downloaded it and that seems to have fixed the problem.

i am new to the itouch and ereader and thought i was doing something wrong. i havent even managed to download a book yet!!! i am glad i found all this. i have exactly the same problem where the book stays on and the menu doesnt budge. i am SO made up it isnt me or my brand spaking new itouch

Frustrating as this discussion is (i.e., no real fix yet). It is a relief to know that I’m not insane. Wish I’d read it before I restored my iPhone yesterday though. Teach me not to google first . . .

I don’t like the Stanza software as much as I like eReader, but will make do with the fix.

I had the same problem, luckily I already had Stanza, so just switched over to using it.

If fact this problem combined with fictionwise being slow in loading new titles, means that I am now shopping at books on board & using Stanza. So they have lost me all round.

I highly recommend Stanza, not only is it more stable than ereader but excepts more formats and as with ereader is free
