A search for two of their titles, "ebook marketing in 2006" and "become a mystery shopper" in Google yields these results:

http://www.google.com/#hl=en&q=%22email+marketing+in+2006%22+and+%22become+a+mystery+shopper%22&btnG=Google+Search&aq=f&oq=%22email+marketing+in+2006%22+and+%22become+a+mystery+shopper%22&aqi=&fp=g9L3vqaXJUM

Including this interesting result:
http://www.countrymomnv.com/540demo/latest_products.php

My guess is that the site was spawned by one of the many new, ahem (cough), paid services or "classes" that promise entrepreneurs financial independence by giving them a bunch of public domain ebooks to sell.

I learned about a service the other week that allows entrepreneurs to "brand themselves as an expert" by paying $20 a month for access to a database of ebook content ("private label articles & information products" [sounds exclusive]). You just slap your own name on an ebook written by someone else and voila, you're an ebook author.

For a hilarious take on the new class of ebook roaches, see: http://www.buymystupidebook.com/

That's a possibility, Mari, but there's too much hidden about that site. And if you're going to start a company, would you use the same logo????? It's all rather puzzling. I'd be extremely cautious.

Could be that the person that bought the domain name and the logo is simply another victim, too.

Given the negative history this business has with publishers and the lack of contact/owner information listed on the site, I'd take that to be a BIG warning to stay away.

Whomever owns the site now really isn't playing smart from a business standpoint. Would YOU buy a discarded business site/model without at least learning something about it?

One of two things:

1) The original owner who disappeared years ago, owing lots of people money, is back to test the waters in the wake of an eBook surge, and hopes nobody remembers the bad juju;

2) Somebody unwittingly purchased the URL to set up a "shopping cart" of eBooks mainly distributed through affiliate sites. The titles look like stuff you get through ClickBank. It doesn't explain how they got the old eBookAd logo, though.

Yes, many of us can tell you about eBookAd. They hurt many publishers early 2006 and took off with thousands of dollars belonging to those publishers. Supposedly the domain was bought by someone. I didn't know that buying a domain came with the exact same logo/banner. Unheard of.
I would say steer far far away from this outfit. They owe me 20,000 to this day.
