Sony news conf August 25: What’s your best guess about the topic?
By Paul Biba
Is Sony coming out with a wireless e-reader very soon—well before the end of the year?
The Sony Reader team is holding a news conference in New York on Tuesday, August 25 at 10:30 a.m., as announced earlier, and we’ll be there. There also will be a "special panel discussion" at noon.
But even this close to the news conference, we still don’t know what will be discussed. Any guesses? Maybe new content deals? Perhaps with non-Sony bookstores? Sony’s coming use of ePub in its own bookstore opens up some interesting possibilities.

1. I’m hoping they announce a wireless reader that I can buy and use in Canada.
2. I’m hoping they announce an iPhone app à la Amazon so I can use my iPhone to read my Sony books when I’m not at home.
If they do nos. 1&2 at least they’ll be on par with Amazon.
And, I’m hoping they announce something that Amazon doesn’t do.
Here’s hoping at least for the 1st 2.
