$99 E Ink machines in three years? And color E Ink next year?

“This year, we’ve already seen a $199 product, I wouldn’t be surprised if next year someone launched a product at around $159 and, three or four years from now, a $99 product.” – Sriram Peruvemba, marketing VP at E Ink, as quoted in a Financial Times piece on the 45-plus e-reader devices now for sale.

Detail: Color E Ink is supposedly coming in 2010—a filter is to cover the monochrome display. Hmm. Let’s hope the color won’t look too washed out. I’d welcome comment from E Ink on this issue. Meanwhile I’ll be curious to see what E Ink’s 20 competitors will be up to.
