Inkmesh vs. eBookPrice.info: Rival search engines for tracking down specific e-books
Earlier we told you about eBookPrice.info, a way to track down specific e-books and find the lowest prices.
But you might also try another searcher, called Inkmesh. Details:
“Inkmesh aggregates and analyzes data from multiple ebook and audiobook sources (including MobileRead!) and makes it available for search. In its first version, Inkmesh also allows browsing ebooks by subject and filtering results by price and content type (ebooks, audiobooks, magazines etc). All search results display compatibility with the most popular reading devices and platforms, and individual ebook pages display detailed availability, formats and pricing.”
So which search do you prefer, and why? At first glance I’d go with Inkmesh even though it doesn’t include a few of eBookPrice.info’s stores. The site feel is so much nicer. Then again, eBookPrice.info includes customized versions for the U.S., Europe, the U.K. and Canada. The real choice may depend on where you live and whether you’re seriously interested in public domain books, which show up in Inkmesh.
In case you’re curious, Inkmesh includes listings from Amazon.com, Audible.com, Baen WebScriptions, BooksOnBoard, Feedbooks, Fictionwise, ManyBooks.net, MobileRead, Powells.com, Project Gutenberg and the Sony eBook Store.
