Publishing Point formed

Editor’s Note: The Digital Publishing Group is a New York City Meetup group that has put on some very interesting meets. I’m a member but, strangely enough, something unexpected has come up on each and every meet that has kept me from going. Odd. Nevertheless, the group is expanding and I received this email from Susan Danziger today. Paul Biba
I’m excited to announce the next stage in the evolution of the Digital Publishing Group. As you know, since we launched our group six months ago, it’s grown to 300 members from all over the publishing industry. You’ve given great feedback on talks by bestselling author Seth Godin; head of digital for Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia, Gail Horwood; the CEO of Lexcycle/Stanza, Neelan Choksi; HarperStudio’s Debbie Stier; O’Reilly’s Andrew Savikas; and the founder of Tumblr, David Karp. And we’ve learned from such skill-based seminars as the recent one on Search Engine Optimization. We think the time is now right to build on our success, expand our core mission, widen our range of programs, and build in community tools. Inspired by your ideas, we have big plans ahead, plans that we believe make it appropriate to change the name of our group. As of today, The Digital Publishing Group will be known as The Publishing Point.
To mark the next phase of our group, we’re launching a series of video interviews called “Publishing Point Perspectives”. As a member of The Publishing Point, you’re the first to know of the launch of our initial interview with bestselling author Cory Doctorow, who was just named “one of the 50 visionaries changing our world.”
You’ll find this series on our new expanded community on Ning at publishingpoint.com, which we hope you (and your friends/colleagues) will join. We’ll also be posting materials and videos from talks there, and you’ll be able to communicate with fellow members. It’s easy to join, and as usual, it’s completely free. We’ll also continue to use Meetup for our monthly events. You can also follow our group on Twitter—@publishingpoint—and tweet about us using the hashtag #pubpt.
Please let me know if you have any questions or suggestions for future events/initiatives.
Sincerely,
Susan Danziger

I’ve been to a few of their events, and they were really terrific. Andrew Savikas and Seth Godin gave great talks.
