GoogleSo how convenient will online book-searching be if it’s balkanized, the way individual publishers’ catalogues are? If publishers want to provide Google alternatives, then they badly need to carry out a true Master Plan and open it up to small and large presses alike. Related: Slashdot post and comment.

  1. I remember one of the ebook people (maybe it was Random House) who wants to license this “search inside” feature to all publishers. How much they are going to charge, I don’t know.
