He loves his Kindle, she loves her Sony: Will this marriage last?
Over at Schwankenstein’s Monster blog, husband and wife are duking it out over the Kindle vs. the Sony Reader.
Hubby sees the Kindle as having more substance—via the books available through the Amazon wireless setup—than the Sony Reader has without one. "I am a technology junky and even I don’t like the hassle of having to find a cable and plugging my devices into the computer. I can browse a huge library of books and have them delivered wirelessly to my device."
Bride of Schwankenstein replies: "Alright, I have to admit that wireless is pretty good in this day and age, but Amazon charges every time you send something to your Kindle, and that can add up. With the Sony, you have to plug it into your computer maybe once a month for some new books (you can have over a hundred books on your Sony at any one time. How often will you really be plugging it in?), for 5 minutes at the most. And it’s free." On top of that, she thinks the Sony is better built.
Detail: Actually the blog post itself contains plenty of substance for prospective buyers, on topics ranging from book costs to the Kindle’s built-in dictionary, and it’s well worth a look. Meanwhile, yes, that’s Boris Karloff as Frankenstein. Schwankenstein apparently wants us just to imagine what he looks like. That’s okay, Schwanky—Amazon’s bastardization of DRMed Mobipocket for the Kindle is frightening enough.

Thanks for linking to us David. My wife and I had a good time writing that post. There has been a ton of feedback from folks commenting on the post, giving lots of arguments that we both wish we had thought of.
With respect to what Schwankenstein looks like. I kind of imagion it being something like the Boris Karloff picture you posted, but a little schwankyer. Maybe a pimp hat or a velvet coat. If any of your readers are good with the photoshop I would love to see some artists renditions. I would post good candidates on the Schwankenstein site.
Thanks again for the review. My wife and I are stoked people are reading the article.
