Mike Cane’s laptop shootout: HP Mini vs. HTC Shift vs. Asus Eee PC
The HP Mini, the HTC Shift and the Asus machines are all possibilities for e-bookers who want a cheap general purpose device.
Mike Cane, a TeleBlog regular, not the little guy in the video, dropped by J&R in New York City and compared the above. Among other things, he worried that the HP Mini—much praised elsewhere—might not be so great for lots of heavy-duty typing.

>>>Mike Cane, a TeleBlog regular, not the little guy in the video,
I’m glad you made THAT clear!
I have to disappoint you on the reading aspect, however. With neither machine configured to tap into the Net, I limited myself to typing a few test sentences and looking for the typos.
It doesn’t matter anyway. Could next month actually bring the iPod Air I’ve said for months Apple *must* bring out?

720 x 480 screen — now would *that* please you for ebooks, David? With over-the-air ebook downloading ala Kindle too?
