Google, other engines to be able to search Flash site more easily—plus info on PDF as an ISO standard
Press release is here. I’d link to the Associated Press, but what the devil? The Adobe news release tells the real story, and I’d rather not get sued. Too bad, AP. Your copyright zealotry cost you a little Google juice.
Excerpt—far more than AP would have allowed: "Adobe is providing optimized Adobe® Flash® Player technology to Google and Yahoo! to enhance search engine indexing of the Flash file format (SWF) and uncover information that is currently undiscoverable by search engines. This will provide more relevant automatic search rankings of the millions of RIAs and other dynamic content that run in Adobe Flash Player" (link added).
Related: PDF as an ISO standard, from InformationWeek. I’d hope Adobe would say, "This is for fixed pages and isn’t intended to displace ePub as a format for most books." Remember, too, that Adobe’s proprietary DRM is not an ISO standard.
