Kindle, Sony Reader e-book rival on the way from SiPix and allies?
SiPix Imaging, a U.S. display company, is reportedly working with Taiwanese firms to develop e-book hardware—for possible unveiling by year’s end.
The displays will use electrophoretic tech, similar to E Ink’s apparently. And the SiPix Web site mentions a relationship with Polymer Vision, or at least shows this picture. So are we talking about rugged displays similar to those used in PV machines? But might it have higher res? And how soon until color comes? Check out this brochure mentioning "e-books / e-newspapers."
Question: Will the complete e-book hardware really be from SiPix itself? Or just use its technology. It could be that the DigiTimes story confused details; I don’t know.

Housekeeping: The PW-related story on the future of e-books might not appear until tomorrow.
