WebScriptions and the iPhone: Easier downloads of Baen books and others

By David Rothman

imageAlready WebScriptions had guidance for Kindle users. Now, piggybacking on the BookShelf app, it’s simplified downloading for owners of the  iPhone and iPod Touch.

imageA multipublisher service, Webscriptions offers books from Baen, Del Rey, Subterranean Press and Tor, among others.

I continued to be amazed that the big mainstream publishers aren’t open to WebScription-style experimentation, which among other things can let readers enjoy previews of uncorrected manuscripts. In effect the reader becomes a collaborator, offering early feedback before it’s too late, as well as creating buzz. O’Reilly, as I recall, also offers some advance peeps.
