Joe Wikert moves to O’Reilly
By Paul Biba
Our regular contributor, Joe Wikert, is moving to O’Reilly. Here’s an excerpt from the press release I just received:
O’Reilly Media announces that Joe Wikert has joined the company as General Manager, O’Reilly Technology Exchange (OTX). Wikert comes to O’Reilly from the Professional/Trade division of John Wiley & Sons, Inc, where he served as Vice President and Executive Publisher, with management responsibility for the WROX and Sybex imprints.
…
The OTX division, which publishes O’Reilly’s storied “animal books,” serves the developers and system administrators who have been a key O’Reilly constituency throughout the company’s 30-year history. Wikert is spearheading the expansion of the OTX publishing program into a broader offering that spans print, online, and in-person products and services.

Good luck, Joe! Hope you have the opportunity to change some things for the better from publisher side of e-books — adding useful electronic features without losing the “book”-ness of a book.
